A Sleigh full of Spirit

Looking for a fun-filled, festive day out this Christmas?

Here at Towan Valley, we love the festive season.  It’s hard to beat the feeling of freedom that you get from walking the dog across an empty beach on a crisp winter day, or of returning to a warm holiday cottage and relaxing with a hot drink.

Last week we recommended the top 5 places to see Santa in Cornwall this Christmas. But Christmas in Cornwall is so good; we couldn’t resist sharing another of our favourite festive activities.

The Eden Project is a popular destination during the summer months, with visitors flocking to the biomes and gardens to see the flowers in bloom.  But most tourists aren’t aware of the magical display that is put on over Christmas.  From seeing Santa and his real reindeer by the log fire, to twinkling lantern parades and ice skating, there’s so much to see and do.  If you plan a visit to Eden this Christmas, here’s what you can expect:

Father Christmas and his team of (real) reindeer

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Santa.  This winter families will be greeted by Santa’s team of elves where they’ll receive a special letter from Father Christmas with a challenge to help him collect all of the food needed from across the globe to create the magical food that makes the reindeer fly.  Visitors can then snuggle up inside Santa’s cosy tent and listen to magical fireside stories.

Twinkling lantern parade

This year guests can join in the twinkling lantern parade by making their own lanterns in special workshops.  Every Saturday and Sunday the night will end with a procession through Eden’s outdoor gardens, ending with a stunning fire finale.

Ice skating

Finally, our favourite part of Eden at this magical time of year has to be the ice skating rink.  Forty minute sessions cost £6 and there will be a host of special slots to choose from including ice discos, toddler ice play and rookie skate sessions.

Plus, there will be choirs and live music, along with exhibitions, workshops and many more fun surprises! Find out more here.
