Try a Sea Safari – There are plenty of sea safaris on offer around Cornwall.  We recommend Orca Sea Safaris and Newquay Sea Safaris for a chance to spot dolphins, seals and even sharks!

Have a Picnic – What could be better than enjoying a cliff top picnic, with views out to the sea? Plus you can fill your picnic basket with plenty of locally-sourced, delicious Cornish food

Take a Boat Trip – Experiencing Cornwall from the water offers a new and exciting perspective of this beautiful county.  We love sailing along the stunning banks of the Fal River between Truro, Falmouth & St Mawes.

Cycle the Mineral Tramways route – For unrivalled access to Cornwall’s historic mining regions we recommend exploring the Mineral Tramways route.  There are over 37 miles to discover, and you can choose to cycle, walk or ride the network.

Porthtowan Sunset

Watch the Sunset – Grab your camera, pick a beautiful spot along the coast, and get lost in the beauty of Cornwall’s evening skies.

Spend the day at Porthtowan beach – We’re lucky enough to be situated minutes away from an award winning Blue Flag beach.  Make the most of it during your stay with us and relax on the golden sands and the blue waves of Porthtowan beach.

Read the papers and relax at the Blue Bar – The ideal activity for a cosy Sunday afternoon, perfectly accompanied by a warm cup of coffee.

Walk the South West Coast Path – The coast path is right on our doorstep, which means you have access to some of the finest walks and coastal trails that Cornwall has to offer.

Try kite surfing – If you’ve got an adventurous spirit, this could be the perfect activity to consume your day.  If kite surfing doesn’t take your fancy, you could also try sailing or kayaking.

Enjoy a hedgehog ice cream at Chapel Porth beach – The legendary ice creams at Chapel Porth Beach Cafe are just a 30 minute walk away, along a beautiful stretch of the South West Coast Path.  We can’t think of a better reward at the end of the walk!

Visit Tehidy Country Park – The beautiful woodlands at Tehidy provide a stark contrast to the blue waters and sandy beaches surrounding Porthtowan.  With 250 acres of peaceful woodland to explore, Tehidy is an enchanting place to visit.

Browse local art – We love Julia’s Driftwood Furniture, all made from driftwood washed up on the beaches and coves around Porthtowan.

Get the bus into Truro and visit the Cornish capital – Visit the Cathedral, go to the cinema, or hit the shops – the choice is yours.

Tidal Pool Porthtowan

Brave the water and go swimming – Porthtowan has a lovely tidal pool which is nicely secluded and safe to swim in.  Plus the water is often warmer than the sea!

Get the bus to visit the Tate St Ives – The perfect excuse for a trip to St Ives (not that you need one!) Spend the day soaking up art, culture, and sunshine…

Try horse riding in St Agnes –  Goonbell Riding Centre offers lessons, courses, hacks and treks throughout the Cornish countryside.

Go wildlife watching – Birds, insects, badgers, rabbits, foxes and dear are all frequently seen around Porthtowan.  Let us know if you spot any!

Enjoy a pub lunch at the Unicorn – The Unicorn is a friendly pub with fresh, locally sourced food.  Also open for brunch and dinner.

Relax…watch tv, browse the internet, play a game, take a bath, sunbathe on the balcony….all from the comfort of your beach house at Towan Valley!
