Dog Walks in Cornwall

A selection of our favourite dog walks in Cornwall

With the South West Coast Path a few hundred yards away and a whole host of dog friendly beaches nearby, our dog friendly cottages at Towan Valley are the perfect base to explore Cornwall from.

Whether you’re looking for a stroll across the beach, a long walk in a wooded valley, a hike across the moors, or an invigorating walk on stunning coastal paths, Cornwall’s got something for you.  There are so many new sights and smells to discover, and new friends for your dog to make.

Tehidy Country Park

With over 250 acres of peaceful woods and 9 miles of paths to explore, Tehidy is the largest area of woodland in West Cornwall.  The woodland walks are well-signposted and enjoy beautiful views throughout the park. There is even a lake for your dog to splash in. We recommend the circular walk which follows a level path around the estate. If you’re looking for something more challenging you can try a trail with steeper hills!

Mount’s Bay

Starting at Marazion, this walk passes through Penzance and Newlyn, ending up in Mousehole. The walk has some fantastic views over St Michael’s Mount and the Atlantic Ocean. If you’re lucky you may even spot some dolphins! Why not make a day of it, and explore each town as you pass through.

Trelissick Woodland Walk

Trelissick Park is a beautiful place to walk the dog in Cornwall. Although dogs are not allowed into the National Trust Gardens the estate has miles of woodland walks with beautiful views for you and your dog to enjoy. We love the 4 mile woodland walk to Roundland Quay which has some fantastic views of the River Fal.

The South West Coast Path

With 630 miles of unspoilt coastline, the South West Coast Path boasts fascinating heritage, wildlife, geology and scenery.  Access to the path is just a few hundred yards from the holiday cottages at Towan Valley, giving our visitors access to some of the finest walks and coastal trails that Cornwall has to offer.  There are recommended walks and routes of differing lengths for all abilities, or you can simply head down to Porthtowan beach and decide which direction you want to take.

Perranporth Beach

Famous for its 3 miles of golden sands, Perranporth beach is a doggy heaven.  Enjoy a day at the beach strolling through the soft sand or swimming in the sea! Dogs are allowed on Perranporth Beach all year round, although we recommend dogs are kept on a lead during July and August from 10am – 5pm.
