Walks in Cornwall: Newquay Headlands Walk

A beautiful walk that takes you around Newquay’s fascinating coastline.

This walks explores Newquay‘s twin headlands, Pentire Point and Towan Head. The views of the Cornish coastline are stunning and worth taking time to enjoy.  There are plenty of benches along the way, allowing you to sit back and soak in the panoramic views of Crantock and Fistral Beach.

Route

Start at Newquay Golf Club (Tower Road, TR7 1LT)

Head down the pathway towards Fistral Beach

When you reach the sand dune track turn left, following the path as it winds towards the southern end of the beach.

Continue on the coastal track along the Pentire headland.

When you reach Pentire Head you will be able to see the spectacular views of Fistral Beach to your right, and Crantock Beach and the Gannel Estuary to your left.

Follow the path back towards Fistral Beach, this time walking down the steps onto the beach. Be careful – the steps are fairly steep.

Walk the length of the beach and rejoin the coastal path which circles around the impressive Headland Hotel.

Continue on this path towards Towan Head. When you reach the top you will see amazing views of the north coast. See if you can spot Watergate Bay and the lighthouse at Trevose Head.

Rejoining the coastal path will lead you to the walk’s end at the harbour.
