Truro Cathedral Truro Cathedral

Truro

The Cornish capital, Truro, is just 10 miles from the holiday cottages at Towan Valley. Along its cobbled streets you will find a great mix of independent shops, high street retailers and a wealth of bars and restaurants.

Truro has two markets, Lemon Street Market and Pannier Market which are open 6 days a week. There are also Farmers Markets every Wednesday and Saturday.

A trip to Truro wouldn’t be complete without a tour of the beautiful Cathedral. Home to the world’s largest stained glass project ever made, the building tells the story of the Gospel in a beautiful and unique way.  If you look down the length of the building once you are inside, you will notice that the Cathedral is slightly bent! This was done to save on building costs so that a further block of land didn’t have to be purchased.

Truro is also home to Cornwall’s leading theatre and concert venue, the Hall for Cornwall. We recommend a pre-theatre dinner in one of Truro’s fabulous restaurants before the evening’s entertainment begins.

The city is easily accessible from our holiday cottages at Towan Valley, even if you don’t have a car. There is a bus that runs hourly, or you can take the park and ride which runs every 10 – 15 minutes.
